State Representative Russell Pearce (4-term State Legislator)

Author of Prop 200 & National Leader in the fight against Illegal Immigration

“Carl has been with us in the trenches in our fight against illegal immigration. From Prop 200 to the Minutemen, you can count on Carl to walk the walk.  I also know that Carl will be a conservative voice for fiscal restraint and a champion for Traditional Family Values

We need him at the Capitol. That’s why he
has my support and I urge you to give him yours as well"

LOWER TAXES & SMALLER GOVERNMENT:

Arizona’s government has nearly doubled since 2000, we have a deficit of nearly $2 billion, yet liberals in the legislature still complain that we aren’t spending enough.  As a small businessman, I understand the impact that tax policies and government waste can have on taxpayers and businesses.

I will hold the line on state spending and work to cut the fat out of the budget.  There are more than 140 state agencies in Arizona, and it is time to look at them and see which should be eliminated.  I will never vote to raise your taxes and support efforts to cap increases in our property tax rates.

IMPROVING EDUCATION:

As the father of 10, 8, and 2 year old boys, I worry about the quality of our education system.  We do not get our money’s worth, but our school administrators still manage to drive the latest luxury import vehicles and live in great big houses.  The truth is that the money is not getting to the classroom, the teacher, or the student.  Too much is being consumed by the bureaucracy and the system itself.

I will fight to reform the public school system and to increase the amount of money that reaches the classroom.  We pay that money because we want our children to be properly educated.  It is time that we get our money’s worth.

SECURING OUR BORDERS:

Illegal immigration touches our lives in so many ways, and the price we pay can be measured just as easily in dollars as in victims. The cost of illegal immigration to the state of Arizona is almost $2 Billion every year and we are paying the bill. But that amount does not include the cost of the crimes that are committed by those here illegally.

I am proud to have worked with State Representative Russell Pearce, Don Goldwater, Chris Simcox and other leaders on Prop 200 and other initiatives that have begun to reverse this pervasive problem.  I am a Minuteman and have seen what we are dealing with down on the border.  As your State Representative I can promise you that law enforcement will have all of the tools and authority they need to win the war on illegal immigration.

FAMILY, MARRIAGE, AND LIFE ISSUES:

As California joins Massachusetts in declaring “unconstitutional” state laws that define marriage as between one man and one woman, we are reminded of how important it is that this sacred institution be secured in our state’s constitution.

I am also proud to be 100% pro-life and I am grateful for the previous support and endorsement I received from Arizona Right to Life.

SECOND AMENDMENT

I am a strong believer in our 2nd Amendment rights and will never infringe upon or violate them.

CRIME:

We have seen other big cities turn their crimes problems around, but we continue to be hampered locally by politics and policies that prevent our police from identifying and prosecuting illegal aliens.  We continue to treat lawlessness with a dismissive attitude as though lawlessness was “in the eye of the beholder”.

The fact is that crime is a major problem that affects every one of us, either directly through the violence that is visited on us, or indirectly through higher insurance rates, diminished home values, and other costs.  It is time to fight and win the battle against crime and we can do it if we take the handcuffs off of our police and allow them to do their job.

IMPROVING OUR TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE:

Whether you live in Anthem, Moon Valley, or someplace in between, it is obvious that freeway construction is not keeping up with demand.  The result is a tax on our time and a very real expense measurable in both time and money.

I will fight to ensure that our district receives its fair share of infrastructure dollars and that we start building for the growth that is coming, rather than play catch up with growth that has been here for several years.

PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS:

I was proud to support the 2006 ballot initiative that protected private property rights from abusive eminent domain laws.
